The Body, Movie Review: Rishi Kapoor-Emraan Hashmi's Slow Ding-Dong Battle Poops Your Body; Gripping Only In Parts

Rishi Kapoor is brilliant, like most of the time he is. Emraan Hashmi bounces back to erase the bad memories of Cheat India.  Sobhita Dhulipala is confidence personified. Vedhika Kumar is convincing. But Jeethu Joseph yet does not cruise his ship called Body. JJ chooses to crawl it as if he is running a race with a snail.

Why was Joseph carrying the bag and baggage of Emraan's image? So he shows him in the bed, thank god not in the act. So he shows him in a smooch and thank god, not more than once. So he shows him in a couple of romantic songs but sadly those are listless and very poorly picturised.

The story is nice but lacks pace. I have not often seen a whodunit biding so much time. Body should have been trimmed by 15 minutes, I take my words back, actually NOT trimmed. What I want to know from Joseph is why is the end so hurried, as if Joseph just didn't know how to culminate it. Also JJ, you could have avoided being repititive. Like, for one. why so many calls from Vedhika to Emraan during his police interrogation and all saying the same thing? You start squirming in your seat once that call comes and might even doze off after the third.

I love suspense. This one did surprise me in the end but just a tad, okay I hadn't guessed it-but so what? So, Joseph scored a half brownie point from me at least, there. But I wish he had seen Drishyam, Badla and the other good ones in Bollywood in the suspense-thriller genre before calling 'Lights, Camera, Action' on this, his brownie points tally would have been more.

Back to Rishi and Emraan. Well done, never mind if Joseph couldn't peak it or precisely speking couldn't hold up the screenplay. You guys have been around for long and you know how it is. Aur haan, Sobhita can also put her collar up along with you!

I am going with Two-and-Half, half included for the performances.
